One can trace back the history of the THEODORUS Wein- und Sektgut (THEODORUS Wine- and Sparkling wine-estate) until 1778 in Hainfeld/Palatinate.
Until today it is owned by the family.
The over 230 year old tradition and the with it connected experience in the winemaking form the basis for a wide spectrum of wines,
that are part of the leading qualities.
The THEODORUS Wein- und Sektgut is located on the outskirts of Hainfeld with a lovely sight on the woods of the Palatinate
and the surrounding landscape of small hills.
In 1996 Thomas Lergenmüller took over the THEODORUS Wein- und Sektgut.
His education and training as a management expert and winemaker, his practical experiences which he gained also abroad are the
basis of his quality orientated wine-growing.
The selected hand-picking of the grapes in the best vineyard sites, the gentle processing of the grape harvest and the slow fermentation
of the first fined must with selected yeasts together form the handwriting, that mark all his wines.
On a vineyard area of about 14 hectare the wine-growing is made on the latest knowledge.
Integrated plant protection, green cover and an environmentally friendly working method are natural.
Traditional vine varieties like "Riesling and Burgundy" are cultivated more intensively again, and some vineyards were
newly planted with –for our region- new vine varieties like Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Our vineyards are located around the wine village Hainfeld, the best known vineyard sites are:
"Hainfelder Kapelle and Letten", "Edesheimer Rosengarten and Mandelhang", "Flemlinger Vogelsprung and Herrenbuckel" as well as
"Burrweiler Schlossgarten".
The estate even owns vineyards near the village Siebeldingen in the site „Siebeldingen Im Sonnenschein“.
Especially the Riesling- and Burgundy-wines are shaped by the heavy clayey lime soil.
